My name is Solomia Zoumaras and I am a product designer based in Dalston, London. I received my Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art, Ceramics and Glass Programme (2012)

Prior to my Masters studies, I set up my eponymous brand ‘Solomia’, specialising in handmade tableware inspired by architectural form. I exhibited in trade and retail shows, had stockists across the UK and Europe, and my ‘Arko’ collection was nominated for ‘Best British Design 2010’ at the Elle Decoration British Design Awards and at the Homes and Gardens Designer Awards 2011.

In addition to my own practice, I currently produce privately commissioned work for fashion designers, architects and visual merchandisers.

My design work starts with direct creation by hand, with ideas developed through play and manipulation of materials. This could be anything to clay, plaster, mountboard, glue, wax, resin, sheet material and more.

To realise final results, I have begun to use Computer Aided Design/Manufacture, when appropriate, to accelerate and enhance existing methods of design development and production.

Though my early designs were primarily in ceramics, I have begun to design in other materials such as glass, metal and plastic.
